The Center for Resolution and Justice (CR+J) supports Western New York with free and sliding-scale Conflict Resolution Services. CR+J offers mediation, conflict coaching, and restorative justice to promote dialogue and understanding between parties facing conflict. CR+J’s community mediation program is free for residents of Western New York and our professional services are offered at reduced rates to community organizations.

Mediation

Does an agreement need to be made? Could conflicting parties benefit from a conversation?

Mediation is a process where a neutral third-party facilitates a dialogue between two or more people. Parties have an opportunity to discuss whether or not they can come to an agreement and to negotiate the terms of that agreement. Mediators do not make suggestions or recommendations, and they do not take sides in the dispute.

Conflict Coaching

Does someone need to better understand the roots of a conflict and their role in it?

Conflict Coaching is a one-on-one meeting between a trained coach and a client involved in a dispute with one or more individuals. Conflict Coaching is designed to help the client develop his/her understanding of the conflict, make decisions about future interactions, and learn key communication skills.

Peacemaking Circle

Is there a group of people who need to build their relationship and trust, and work out a conflict?

Peacemaking Circles is a process that brings people together who wish to participate in conflict resolution, support, decision making, and/or provide a space to acknowledge responsibility for one’s behavior. It is done in a way that creates an atmosphere of trust. Circles can be used in many different ways in the community, including by families, schools, business, government, the criminal justice system, and more.
