Child and Family Services Haven House Toyland drive was once again a success thanks to the generosity of our donors! Held annually during the holiday season, Toyland helps support Haven House’s emergency shelter throughout the year by providing essential resources.
“Without Toyland’s assistance, our clients may not be able to provide gifts to their children for the holidays,” explained Kristin Tanner, Supervisor of the Counseling and Advocacy Program at Haven House. “Toyland also helps clients who had to flee and leave everything behind start over. For many, Toyland can be a gateway to their new beginning!”
Over 70 individuals and organizations participated in the donation drive with many filling entire vans with essential items to aid survivors of domestic violence. Toys, clothes, kitchen appliances, hygiene products, monetary gifts and more were just some of the many items given to support Haven House.
“It was overwhelming to see the community come together as a collective to encourage survivors to feel empowered,” emphasized Michael Bloom, Community Relations Coordinator. “The donations we received will give survivors a fresh start and fund the rapid rehousing program, which helps survivors find adequate living arrangements and begin a new life free from violence.”
Thank you to the following organizations for donating to Toyland this holiday season – Alkegen, Amherst Fire Council, Brookdale-Kenmore, Buffalo Police Department, Cheektowaga Central High School, Independent Health, Kaleida Health, Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital and Northwest Bank. We also want to thank the many individuals who contributed and the Haven House staff for organizing this event.
