“I’ve been waiting for this for five years,” Elliana said with a smile, as she hugged her mom and dad. On Tuesday, December 19, Elliana was officially adopted by Zabrina and Frank – just time for the holidays.

Five years ago on Christmas Eve, eight-month-old Elliana was placed with her aunt, Zabrina Reich, and uncle, Frank Jacobi. As time passed, it became evident Elliana would be staying with the Jacobi family long-term. In order to ensure Elliana remained in their care and everything was legal, Zabrina and Frank decided to become certified foster parents through Child and Family Services Foster Care and Adoption Program.

“Child and Family Services was recommended as the top agency for taking the best care of their families and having the best-case workers,” emphasized Zabrina. “We can’t recommend them enough.”

Elliana, of course, was the star of the show at the adoption. She couldn’t wait to pose for all the cameras and tell the world how much she loves her mom, dad, and little sister Francesca – Zabrina and Frank’s biological daughter.

Knowing the adoption was official and seeing Elliana so happy throughout the day, Zabrina and Frank felt a sense of relief. “It has been a very long journey,” explained Zabrina. “We are relieved the process is officially over and are very excited to give Elli the childhood she deserves.”

“Elli has been with us for almost her entire life,” Frank recalled. “We are so overjoyed to officially welcome her as part of our family, even though she has been a part of it since the beginning.”

Making things official so close to the holidays was a full-circle moment for Zabrina, Frank and Elliana. While waiting for the adoption to begin, Elliana received one of her first holiday gifts, a stuffed elephant that she named Cupcake. Cupcake made her presence known, as Eliana made her dance and jump on the courtroom table throughout the proceedings. Even though Cupcake was a hit, the adoption itself was the gift everyone will truly treasure.

“I would say it’s the greatest Christmas present ever!” Zabrina gushed.

“Mommy is the best Christmas gift ever! And Daddy!” Elliana agreed.
