The 2020 Summer Olympics may have been postponed, but the children at C&FS are still going for the gold at the annual Summer Sensational!
Summer Sensational is a themed week of activities for the kids in Residential Treatment. It is a great opportunity for the children to have fun and work together in a multitude of games that promote creativity, intelligence, wit, and physical strength. The youth – as well as the staff – have greatly enjoyed these events for the past two years and look forward to this week as a great way to end the summer.
“All of the kids run to me when I come in in the morning to ask what they will be doing today and to figure out who is in the lead,” said Sarah Frank, Training and Administrative Supervisor at Residential. “The Summer Sensational is a great way to send off the summer and teach the youth teamwork, dedication, healthy competition, and even some educational facts they might have not known before.”
This year, the Summer Sensational athletes have been taking part in “Olympic activities” such as a three-on-three basketball competition, soccer, making friendship bracelets for their countries, door decorating, races, Olympic Family Feud, and giving reports on respective countries. The country with the most points at the end of the week will be awarded medals to share, as well as the ever-important bragging rights for a year.
Thanks to the efforts of our incredible staff, all of the children will come out of this week as winners!
