Last Wednesday, the gymnasium at Child and Family Services Delaware campus was transformed into a spooky Halloween wonderland as the Residential Program hosted its annual Halloween Party with the help of volunteers from Spectrum Reach.

From the moment the doors opened, the gym was crowded with laughter and excitement. Superheroes, princesses, witches and ghosts filled the space as each child was eager to show off their costume and join the fun.

Children traveled from table to table for face painting, temporary tattoos and a candy corn guessing game.  Other games included classics like ladder ball, bowling and a spider-themed ring toss. At the indoor pumpkin patch, each child picked out their very own pumpkin to decorate with paint and stickers. Nearby, a “mummy-making station” challenged everyone to get creative, using toilet paper to transform into mummies.

Beyond the costumes and candy, the event was a celebration of fun and community. For the children, it was a night to dress as their favorite characters, connect with friends and enjoy Halloween traditions.

“From day one of planning, to packing up the last piece of Halloween décor after the party, our team looks forward to this event every year,” said Lesley Pike, Senior Account Specialist at Spectrum Reach. “When the kids enter the gym, the energy is high, they’re smiling and laughing, they’re showing off their costumes and their enthusiasm is contagious.”

Thanks to collaboration between the residential team and the team from Spectrum Reach, the Halloween Party was another wonderful event for our Agency. It also served as a reminder of how small moments of festive fun can make a big difference in the lives of the children we serve.
