When conflict happens, Child and Family Services Community Mediation Center can help the people involved talk about it, clarify the issues, discuss options and create lasting agreements.

Mediators are trained to serve as neutral third parties, using a variety of techniques to provide those in conflict an opportunity to hear and be heard.

Child and Family Services Community Mediation Center gives people an opportunity to find peaceful, meaningful and empowering ways to resolve disagreements through conversation. We train and support a community of professional staff and skilled volunteers to help:

  • People talk about the things that matter to them
  • Promote understanding and active listening
  • Build a safer community

For more than 40 years, the Community Mediation Center has provided dispute resolution services as an alternative to formal court proceedings. Child and Family Services Community Mediation Center is part of the New York State Unified Court System’s network of Community Dispute Resolution Centers.

We offer low-cost to no-cost programs that can help individuals resolve a wide range of disputes, including neighborhood, housing, property, school, family/parenting, small claims and relationship conflicts. We also offer programs in areas such as agricultural mediation, divorce mediation, workplace mediation, special education mediation, lemon law arbitration, conflict coaching and restorative practices.
