Talk It Out. Find Common Ground.
Conflict happens, but it doesn’t have to lead to stress, resentment or costly legal battles. Child and Family Services Community Mediation Center (CMC) provides a safe, structured space where friends, family members, co-parents, co-workers, supervisors, landlords or neighbors can be heard and talk about things that matter to them. Whether you’re facing a personal dispute, a workplace issue or a community challenge, we help you navigate conflict with confidence.
Why choose mediation?
Mediation is a proven approach to resolving disputes with lasting results. Benefits include:
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Improved focus and communication
- Stronger relationships and understanding
- Faster and more cost-effective resolution compared to legal action
How We Help
Mediation
When conflict happens, CMC can help the people involved talk about it, clarify the issues, discuss options and create lasting agreements. Mediators are trained to serve as neutral third parties, using a variety of techniques to provide those in conflict an opportunity to hear and be heard.
Mediation is voluntary and confidential. It is often the most effective way to resolve disputes without legal action. Learn more about Mediation here.
Conflict Coaching
Sometimes, only one party in a conflict agrees to mediate. Other times, a dispute may not be appropriate for mediation. CMC’s conflict coaches help one party in a conflict identify resources and discuss strategies for effective communication, managing the problem and resolving the situation. Learn more about Conflict Coaching here.
Restorative Practices
Restorative Practices builds connections and belonging, strengthens relationships and prioritizes the repair of harm over punishment. CMC’s Restorative facilitators hold space for dialogue and shared decision-making by teams, groups and communities. When a harm has occurred, Restorative Practices can help rebuild relationships and trust by honoring all of the impacted voices. Learn more about Restorative Practices here.
Training & Education
CMC offers training and consulting to help individuals, organizations and community groups manage everyday conflicts and complex disputes. Conflict management and communication skills workshops help individuals learn to have productive conversations. Learn more about workshops here.
Formal training is also available for those seeking to become mediators or advance their mediation practice. Click here to explore training options.
