According to the CDC (Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month | CDC Online Newsroom | CDC):
- Of students who reported dating, 21% of girls and 10% of boys reported experiencing physical violence and/or sexual violence from a dating partner in the past 12 months.
- 23% of females and 14% of males who ever experienced rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner first experienced some form of partner violence between ages 11 and 17.
Additionally, according to Love is Respect (Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month – love is respect):
- One in three teens in the US will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before they become adults, and nearly half (43%) of college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors.
