April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to come together as a community to raise awareness and support the well-being of children and families. In honor of this, staff across the agency coordinated to wear blue – the official color of child abuse prevention efforts – on April 3 to show their support.

As child abuse can take many forms, C+FS offers a wide range of programs to ensure every child receives the right support. At the heart of every program and every story told at C+FS, are the team members who make it possible. The dedication of our employees creates safe and supportive environments where children can grow and heal.

For many of them, this work is deeply personal. Nicole Luko, Program Manager for Foster Care, approaches her role in Foster Care with a deep sense of responsibility and warmth. “Working in this field allows me to make a difference in my community by nurturing our future, the children,” Nicole said. “Children can never experience too much love!”

Roemello White, Residential Treatment Facilities Manager, is affected by the everyday progress he witnesses. “What I am able to see are children and families learning new skills to aid toward a healthier future,” expressed Roemello. “I’m just happy to play a small role in providing happier outcomes for kids and families.”

For Emily Tait, Foster Care Case Planner, her motivation comes from offering hope and encouragement to children who are navigating tough experiences. “I like providing the optimism that I feel like is lacking when working with the children because it’s a lot to go through at a young age,” explained Emily.

Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and hopeful about the future. Thank you to our incredible team, who makes that future possible not just during Child Abuse Prevention Month, but throughout the entire year.
