The Falk Falcons Varsity Soccer team won the opening game of their season on Tuesday night, blanking the Christian Academy of Western New York by a score of 1-0.
With two minutes remaining in the deadlocked game, senior Byron Evans recorded the deciding tally. Byron’s goal broke the Falk record for most career goals, which previously stood at 22. Currently at 23 career goals with the rest of the season in front of him, Bryon’s record will surely continue to increase.
Colleen Tuzzo, one of Byron’s coaches, says, “We are extremely proud of this young man! Byron has grown so much as a soccer player over the past three years that we’ve coached him. We can’t wait to see what else he accomplishes as a senior this year.”
Even though he scored the only goal in the game, Byron did not win the game on his own. It took a complete team effort to hold off the CAWNY attack, leading to the shutout.
The Falcons are now 1-0 on the season. Their next game is Thursday, September 20 at 4pm. The Falcons will be playing Chesterton Academy at Cheektowaga Town Park.
Congratulations to all members of Falk Falcons Varsity Soccer! Go Falcons!
