Yesterday evening, the C+FS Delaware campus gymnasium got a spooky makeover as the Residential Program welcomed a night of costumes, Halloween fun and festive surprises at its annual Halloween party.

Children arrived in a variety of costumes ranging from bananas and superheroes to zombies and aliens, ready for an evening of activities, treats and time together. The gym was full of Halloween spirit and had something for everyone to enjoy.

Together, children decorated pumpkins, wrapped one another in toilet paper to create their own “mummies” and got creative with face painting and temporary tattoos. They tested their aim at the ring toss, competed in Halloween-themed bowling and tried their luck in the candy corn guessing game, with plenty of candy to enjoy along the way.

For Keara Darnell, Residential Activity Leader, the party is a special tradition that both staff and children look forward to each year.

“The Halloween party is always one of our favorite events of the year,” Keara shared. “It’s so much fun to see the kids get excited about their costumes and show off their interests to each other.”

The celebration also reminded the children that their community is thinking of them. Volunteers from Spectrum Reach joined the Halloween fun in their own costumes, spending the evening helping with activities and making the celebration extra special for the kids.

“When volunteers take the time to spend their night with the kids and help bring this event to life, they help us create lasting memories,” Keara shared.

A heartfelt thank you to the Spectrum Reach volunteers for helping make this year’s Halloween party another memorable evening filled with creativity, laughter and festive fun for the children in our care.
