For many, the holiday season is filled with joy, celebration and time spent with loved ones, but for hundreds of families across Western New York, this time of year can also bring significant challenges.

Each year, Child and Family Services’ Adopt-a-Family program helps bridge that gap. Through the generosity of our community, families in C+FS programs receive everything from toys and winter clothing to essential household items that bring comfort and stability during the holidays. This year, more than 350 donors were matched with over 300 families, reaching more than 1,200 individuals.

Behind every gift was a volunteer helping make the season brighter. As holiday music played and donors pulled in with full cars, volunteers in festive sweaters and holiday hats welcomed them with smiles. Inside, teams sorted, organized and carefully prepared each donation. The space filled with cheer, all while making sure every family received exactly what they needed.

“Every year, we see the need grow,” said Alicia Stark, Development Manager at C+FS. “Donor generosity and volunteer commitment help us make sure all of our families receive the support they deserve.”

We were grateful to welcome volunteers from our lead sponsor, Amazon, as well as M&T Bank, Wegmans, RBC Wealth Management, Harmac, Gurney Becker & Bourne, the University at Buffalo Football and many other groups and individuals.

“After adopting a family as a team, we realized we wanted to make an even bigger impact,” shared Victoria Faltisco, volunteer from M&T Bank. “So, when the opportunity to volunteer and see the work behind the scenes came up, we didn’t hesitate.”

Thank you to our donors, volunteers, sponsors and staff. Adopt-a-Family continues to demonstrate the strength of our community and the ways we show up for one another. Your generosity reminds us that when we come together, we create moments of hope that last far beyond the holiday season.
