The back-to-school season is always filled with excitement and anticipation, and this year our DEI Committee brought families in our Residential Program together for a Back-to-School Family Fair.

The fair was full of energy, with karaoke, face painting, dinner and door prizes. Each child even had the chance to pack their very own brand-new backpack with school supplies. From notebooks and pencils to crayons and markers, every child walked away ready to start the year prepared and confident.

“This event was a way for us to get our kids excited about the upcoming school year while ensuring that our caregivers maintain a central role through relationship development and skill-building,” shared Yvonne DuBois, Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer. “We look forward to making this an annual tradition.”

Parents and guardians also had a special role in the evening, working alongside their children to write down personal goals for the year ahead. This time gave families the opportunity to reflect on hopes, strengths and areas for growth.

“We recognize that increased family engagement is an important predictor of successful client outcomes,” said Yvonne.  “As a result, our partnership with the Residential Program focuses on education and engagement efforts with our caregiver families.”

Thanks to the hard work of our DEI Committee and Residential team, the Back-to-School Family Fair was more than just an evening of fun. It was an opportunity to strengthen connections, build excitement and create a sense of support as families enter a new chapter.
