Last week, C+FS staff gathered for a celebration of connection and community. In honor of World Health Day and Celebrate Diversity Month, our DEI and Well-Being Committees brought the agency together for a much-anticipated Potluck.
Across our locations, the air filled with comforting scents of home-cooked dishes and the sounds of lively conversations. Staff were invited to bring something to share, whether it was a dish tied to their cultural heritage, a family recipe or a favorite comfort food. This resulted in tables transforming into buffets, showcasing everything from savory homemade macaroni and cheese to Buffalo staples like Paula’s Donuts and chicken wings. No two plates looked the same, but each was piled with food that left everyone with a satisfied stomach.
The Potluck quickly became more than just a shared meal. It turned gymnasiums and boardrooms into welcoming spaces for everyone to connect. Coworkers who don’t always cross paths during the workday took time to check in with each other. Stories were swapped, favorite foods were shared, common interests were discovered and connections, new and old, were strengthened.
“This collaboration between the DEI and Well-Being Committees is another example of how much we value personal well-being at C+FS,” explained Yvonne DuBois, Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer. “Witnessing our colleagues across the agency share family recipes, check in with each other and take the time to fill each other’s cup – both figuratively and literally – makes me really appreciate how safety and connection are central components to our Equity and Inclusion approach.”
Thanks to the thoughtful dedication of our committees, events like this come to life and remind us that our people are the heart of everything we do at C+FS.
