It was an exciting first day back to school for Stanley G. Falk students as the buses pulled into the circle for drop off. Two of the students were sitting side-by-side on the bus steps, eagerly waiting to walk through the front doors and greet their teachers.

“We are already best friends!” shouted one student as the other laughed and nodded. The pair had just met on the bus ride to school and hoped to be in the same classroom.

“The start of the school year is always a time of excitement as we look ahead to new beginnings,” said Rachael Greene, Falk Superintendent. “This year, we are welcoming close to 600 students and over 300 staff members into our four buildings.”

Mullen Elementary is welcoming 12 new kindergarten students to the classroom, and returning students were more than happy to welcome them by giving them high fives and fist bumps. To keep up the school spirit, performer Kevin McCarthy will be putting on a back-to-school concert for the children.

Prior to the first day of school, staff members gathered at the Roosevelt campus for a “Kick Off” event. In the opening address, Ms. Greene discussed goals for the new school year and handed out longevity awards to teachers. The honorees totaled 470 years of service at the Falk School.

“Last year at this time, we opened our new Mullen building and realigned grade levels,” explained Ms. Greene. “It feels good to be settled into our new school, and we’re more than ready to see what exciting things our students accomplish this year!”

Child and Family Services wishes all our Falk School students a happy, healthy and successful school year!
