What do you do if you must now work and live in a dangerous place for you – your home?
Child & Family Services’ Haven House knows this is not a hypothetical question for some in our community. Domestic violence can be as much of a threat as the COVID-19 virus to those in an abusive relationship.
Still, we are seeing calls to our domestic violence hotline decline. The number of calls to the hotline have dropped 31% in the last two weeks. These last two weeks we saw less than 30 calls each week. Sara Grady, Director of Domestic Violence Prevention and Intervention Services at Child & Family Services’ Haven House said, “I want to make sure the community, including victims, know that domestic violence services are considered essential and that we are still here and available. Our hotline is operating 24/7; our shelter is open and accepting victims who need a safe place to go, and all of our advocacy and counseling services are available via remote services.”
For help, call 716-884-6000. Please do send an email message as it may not be safe, and we will not be able to call you back and know it is safe.
