Child & Family Services’ Haven House Provides

  • 24-hour Hotline: (716) 884-6000
    • all calls are confidential
    • for information, support and/or shelter
  • safe shelter
    • for women and children
    • stay up to 90 days
    • confidential location
  • individual counseling and support groups
    • multiple, confidential locations throughout Erie County
  • advocacy and assistance with
    • social services
    • police
    • courts
    • local, county, state and federal government services
  • LGBT DV Victim Services
    • specialized counseling and advocacy services for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender victims of intimate partner violence, including safe shelter
    • community education and training on LGBT Domestic Violence
  • recreational and therapeutic programming for children residing in shelter
    • learn coping mechanisms for family crisis
    • learn non-violent forms of conflict resolution
  • education and training
    • for lay or professional audiences
    • possible topics include child abuse, partner abuse and/or elder abuse, LGBT DV
    • dating violence
    • training on effects of domestic violence on the workplace
  • legal consultation by volunteer lawyers
  • participation in community organizations and coalitions
  • Safe Home Network
    • safe dwellings in of Erie County
    • for any victim of domestic violence and their children, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals
    • stay up to one week
    • confidential locations

Who May Seek Services at Haven House?

  • Shelter:
    • victims of domestic violence
    • women and children only (no age limit for children)
    • women alone must be 18 or older
    • women with children must be 17 or older
    • abuser may be a parent, step-parent, or other relative of a child, where the primary victim is the child
    • abuser may be a partner, husband, ex-partner, boyfriend, lover, etc.
    • lesbian victims of domestic violence
  • Counseling and Advocacy Program:
    • victims of domestic violence over age 16 (male or female)
    • Erie County resident
    • abuser may be a partner, husband, ex-partner, boyfriend, lover, etc.
    • gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender victims of domestic violence
