"We Repair Lives" Capital Campaign Surpasses Goal

The results are in! Child & Family Services' three-year Capital Campaign has exceeded its original goal and raised more than $7.1 million to help build a new Haven House for victims of domestic violence, upgrade teaching facilities at the Stanley G. Falk School, and make badly needed repairs to its aging facilities.

"Our clients and staff are so thankful for the generosity of our donors," said Gene Meeks, President/CEO of Child & Family Services. "These funds have and will help us to build and upgrade facilities that meet the needs of our clients well into the future."

The original goal of the Agency's Capital Campaign was to raise $6.5 million between 2004 and 2007. Under the leadership of the campaign chairpersons, Ed and Susan Bean, as well as the Agency's board of directors and Development Department, that goal was exceeded by more than half a million dollars. There were a total of 425 donors.

"To every donor we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for your part in making this campaign such a success. Your participation ensures that this agency can better serve countless children and families experiencing crisis, despair or uncertainty," said Ed and Susan Bean, capital campaign chairpersons.

The capital campaign funded several capital improvements at the Agency, which included:

  • A new Haven House shelter and transitional apartments for victims of domestic violence.
  • Stanley G. Falk School Renovations that included gymnasium renovations, new science laboratories, new teaching kitchen, new emergency generator, boiler upgrades, and building repairs.
  • Renovation of the four historic buildings on the 824-844 Delaware campus that included a new slate roof on Miller Hall, a renovated kitchen, tables and chairs for the dining rooms, replacing boilers, replacing windows, installing an emergency generator, replacing carpeting, remodeling and renovating bedrooms and restoring porches.
  • Replacing the sidewalk and repaving the parking lot at the administrative offices at 330 Delaware Ave.
  • Improving Agency infrastructure by replacing PC's, servers and software, as well as replacing telephone/communication systems agency-wide at 14 locations.
